First let me start by expressing my appreciation to the men and women of the Old Farts Car Club for allowing me to play music and commentate for the 2014 Show and Go Car Show. I would also like to thank all the men and women of the Armed Forces. God bless them and let’s pray for a speedy and safe return for all our troops.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Southern California. I spent my time at car shows and surfing up and down the coast. I also lived in Hawaii for a brief period surfing the waves and enjoying the beaches. To support my need for food and shelter, I would DJ beach parties or hot rod shows.
My big claim to fame came when I became Surfer Dave doing a bit part on a local radio show. Working with the radio station, and the events we promoted with the local car clubs, I became acquainted with some of the guys from the Old Farts Car Club and soon became one of the members. I did some DJ work for some of their events and was very lucky they asked me to be DJ for the Show and Go Car Show. I have been doing the Show and Go Car Show for the last 6 years and have had a blast doing it every year.
I am currently manager of the Granada Theater in Ontario. I promote concerts, play old classic movies on Friday and Saturday nights and currently I am working on getting a cruise night coordinated. The general idea is classic cars and hot rods would cruise up and down Euclid Ave., in Ontario meeting at the Granada Theater for some classic rock and roll, food and drinks and shooting the breeze with friends. For information and details call (909) 292-8415. If you want to come by and see a great old movie the address is 303 N. Euclid Ave., Ontario, 91762.
I feel such a connection with the people of Southern California and by me playing classic rock and roll music; everyone is guaranteed to have a great time. Music moves people and people move to music, and with these hard times everyone need to let loose and have some fun. So let’s all have a lot of fun this weekend and remember, let Surfer Dave take you for a Blast to the Past and that the best is yet to come.
